October 27, 2011 - 6 months since Chemo
Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while but I finally have something to write about again. I am now 6 months in remission! Crazy to think that it’s already been 6 months since I was in chemo last. It seems so long ago yet not so long ago.
I had my PET/CT scan 2 weeks ago, my port flushed/blood drawn last week, and my 3 month check in with my doc today. Everything is good. My scan came back clean and my AFP blood marker was a 2. something which is great. To be honest I’m super relieved right now. Why? Because for minute there I really thought that my results weren’t going to be as good. I was thinking that maybe my blood levels were going to go up a little. I really thought that something was going on with my body. Maybe it’s just my head playing with me again but I really wasn’t sure what to expect. At least for now I can know that everything’s good and keep doing what I’m doing.
Update on life. Everything is good, feeling good too. School is almost over! Only a few more weeks and the semester is done! I’m so ready for it to be over. Then graduation in May. On the basketball front, I am glad to say that I am back to playing and working out and I’m actually playing in a few leagues now. Once school is done I’ll start to try to bulk up and put on some more weight (which I’m at 118lbs but I’m still pretty skinny I think). I’m going to also get back to my basketball form from before, which shouldn’t take too long.
Also a cool note, I’m actually coaching now, for real. I’m back at my old high school coaching the JV team. It’s been pretty good so far. They’re a good group of kids, and they’ve improved a lot since the summer. It should be a pretty fun but also very interesting season. So shout out to all of you girls.
So I’ll be coaching this season until February. But once school is done and other than coaching I won’t really have anything else on my plate. I might try and find some part time work to earn a little $ but I don’t think I want to start working full time yet, unless it’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. I just want to take some time off before I jump into real life again. Probably travel a bit. So if anyone wants to help fund those adventures I would appreciate it : )
On the hair front..yes it is growing out. Pretty fast too. It is not growing out straight like my hair used to be. It is now growing out curly. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, but I will say that I’m going to experiment and have a little fun with my hairstyles before I completely let it grow out so we’ll see. I’m just really trying to delay the awkward phase my hair will be in when I do let it grow out completely.
So that’s it. That’s the update on what I’m doing now and what I plan on doing in the upcoming months. The next update probably won’t be until the 9 month mark since chemo/1 year since being diagnosed/surgery, which I plan on doing it up big and celebrating life seeing as how I’ll be out of school too. I’m thinking bungee jumping or something like that…I’m open to ideas.
Much love everyone! Thanks for still checking in and supporting!
Omg… I’m famous.. my teams famous!!!~
